Antibacterial treatment technology for nonwoven materials

Author: Date:2020-01-10

To achieve a certain degree of antibacterial properties, non-woven materials need to choose different processing and production methods and steps according to the antibacterial technology, the end use of the product, and the action mechanism of the antibacterial agent. For example, in the polymer melt, the antibacterial agent is added during the fiber processing, or the antibacterial agent is added during the finishing of the fabric or product.

After the polymer is fiberized, the antibacterial agent can be added to the drawing oil and spinning oil, but the problem of compatibility and uniformity of the antibacterial agent and the oil should be solved, and the performance of maintaining spinning finishing.

Antibacterial finishing can be performed in each step after the stretching process. Antibacterial agents can be added to the crimping step when there is a curling oil agent or no curling oil agent. The heat setting process is used to ensure that the antibacterial agent can be permanently adhered to the fiber surface. . Some antibacterial agents that can react with or bind to fibers can be added to the spunbond nonwovens and bonded to the fiber web by spraying or padding. These operations can be done at the fiber production plant or during the pretreatment stage. The method can perform antibacterial treatment on the fiber surface, and at the same time, it can provide the compatibility and safety required by the processing process and the final product. If an antibacterial agent is to be added to the surface of the final nonwoven substrate, this can be accomplished using spray technology and padding processes.

In addition, the addition of antibacterial agents to polymer melts must evaluate some of the problems that arise when polymers are melted. For example, how can the antibacterial agent be uniformly mixed into the polymer; processing at 230 ° C for 2 to 3 minutes, the volatilization of the antibacterial agent, changes in fiber properties, negative effects on color or reflectance, filter clogging, and processed fibers can occur How to solve the problems such as odor, fog, powder or surface salting out. In addition, it is necessary to consider whether antibacterial agents will affect the health of workers and consumers on the production line and will not pollute the environment.
